Cleaning and lubricating window risers I am getting ready to install the window risers in the doors of my Cabriolet. I don't want to take them apart, they are in good condition. I have wiped them with a rag and solvent and want to know what kind of lubricant to use on the gears and the sliding parts of the mechanism? Thank you for your comments. Ed

Re: Cleaning and lubricating window risers I used white lithium grease on the gears of the window regulators and motor oil on the shafts in my Victoria back in 2016 and all is well. I did the same on my Coupe in 1980 and the regulators work well.

Re: Cleaning and lubricating window risers I stay away from lithium white grease, my '70 VW had it's w/w linkage lubed with it and it turned to stone after many years!

Re: Cleaning and lubricating window risers The older white lithium grease that I'm familiar with would separate, the oil would ooze out leaving the white stuff behind, not familiar with current production white lithium grease.
