34 Radiator Hoses

I’m about to take a road trip cross country. My radiator hoses seem older. I can’t seem to find anyone that has the reproduction hoses available.

Does anyone know where I can get a set?

Now here’s the next question- should I just replace them with modern hoses I assume I can get from my local NAPA?

It looks like my longer passenger side has been replaced with plain hose.

Should I swap them out or do you think they can make it down Route 66?

I appreciate your comments.

how far down 66 are you going. Your hoses do not look all that bad. You could pick up some current hoses cut to length and take with you. I would also carry ten modern stainless type worm screw clamps. All this for emergency.

Napa sells the hose by the foot.

MN down Iowa to pick up 66 in Missouri west of St. Louis.

Thanks for the advice I’ll get the spares at Napa.

If you are going to buy the hose why not put them on before you leave. That way you won't need to make repairs at the side of the road or in the dark. I see that you have thermostats in both top hoses. You could buy new thermostats also if you want to be completely covered. Maybe you could carry 5 gallons of water too. If your 34 has not been having any over heating problems I doubt that you will have any trouble.

They look fine to me, and in a non pressurized system they will last for decades.

If they are not leaking now, they will when you change them and you will have to use silicone sealer under them. Why, I cannot say but that seems to be the case.
