'31 Slant Window sedan window channel

In the process of servicing the latch on the front passenger door of my '31 slant window sedan I had to remove the window and regulator. The servicing and reinstalling of the latch mechanism went fine, but the window - not so much.

Testing the window after installation of the regulator, I found that one of the window arms (there are two on a slant window regulator) keeps jumping out of the end of the track that's installed on the bottom of the window. Like it's overextending. Regulator is in good shape, arms appear to be timed correctly, and there's only one way to install it. But in looking at the window I noticed a couple of things (see pictures):
  • The two tracks in the channel are asymmetrical. I would think that since the arms from the regulator are the same length, the tracks would be also.
  • The channel is installed asymmetrically - 1" gap to the glass on one side, 2" on the other side.
  • There is a piece of masking tape on the channel that says "33-34 - 7.95" which leads me to suspect that the "restorer" of this car (1980's) installed the wrong part. (This would not be the first time I've discovered incorrect parts or assembly).
  • The channel that's installed doesn't look anything like the replacement part offered by Snyders (part # A-45962-SW) or Bratton's (part #31290).
So, to get to the meat of this thread:
  1. Does anyone have a photo/drawing/dimensions of the proper window channel for the passenger front door window?
  2. Does this channel get installed with equal clearance on each side? If not, what are the dimensions?

Strangely, before I "fixed" it this window performed just fine.

My plan at this point, barring information to the contrary, is to order the new channel from the suppliers and install it. The new part appears to be quite a bit longer than the old one, so that should solve my problem.

Thanks, all.

the channel is NOT the correct channel. Snyder`s has the correct ones A-45962-SW
I do have one original still on the glass in my stash. i will dig it out tomorrow.

Thanks, jw. Appreciate it if you’d post a picture so I see what I’m aiming for.

Be sure and get the ones made by United Pacific. They are the only ones that work well. Thru are usually painted black; those pictured on Snyder’s website are plated. I’ve not had the best of luck with anything but the UP. Ask them!
You can look that part number up on Snyder’s online

If you wish to email me direct, I’ll be happy to share an excellent article on slant side window installation from Vic group.

Thanks, jw. this is exactly what I was looking for.

Snyder's lists the channel as being ambidextrous (right or left side), and according to Kevin at Snyder's that's what the Ford parts book lists as well. jw's first photo seems like the two tracks are equal length.

Bratton's lists the channels as right or left (two different part numbers). So it's obviously a different part(s) than what Snyder's provides.

Snyder's told me (reluctantly) that their supplier is United Pacific. Bratton's told me that they get theirs from Eckler's. Lotta good that does us now.

So I'm going to order from Snyder's. Kevin says they have quite a few, so stock apparently isn't an issue.

Thanks a million to everyone who chimed in.

Oldbluoval, email sent.

Left or right ..same thing..
Be sure and position on glass as John’s picture shows or it might not allow double arms to extend.
