1940 coupe Master cylinder pedal push rod pin removal I am replacing all brake lines, wheels cylinders, flex lines and master cylinder, my question.
Removed the return brake spring on the pin that it was connected to and cotter pin from other end. I need to clean up that area and I was going to clean up the push rod that travels in the Master cylinder. The pin will not move towards the other end of spring attachment. Any information on removal or direction the pin will go would be appreciated. ( I have sprayed with PB Blaster this evening ) |
Re: 1940 coupe Master cylinder pedal push rod pin removal The pin is apparently stuck. Perhaps get a locking plier on one end and twist the pin a little to free it up.
Be aware that any wear in the pin and / or the respective clevis will have an exponential effect upon the brake pedal travel. New pins are available. That clevis? Weld up the hole and drill to .312". |
Re: 1940 coupe Master cylinder pedal push rod pin removal Thank you for your information, will remove tomorrow

Re: 1940 coupe Master cylinder pedal push rod pin removal As "Kube" mentioned, you will be amazed at how the wear of the clevis pin components has a cumulative effect on the brake pedal travel. I adjust the clevis until there is just a small amount of clearance between the end of the rod that goes into the master cylinder

Re: 1940 coupe Master cylinder pedal push rod pin removal Got pin removed, cleaned up area around Master cylinder, painted area and installed new master cylinder today. Now have three of the new metal brake lines installed. Need part number of short flex line between rear radius arms and short steel line going to Master cylinder. All information and your time appreciated.

Re: 1940 coupe Master cylinder pedal push rod pin removal This HAMB thread shows the 1940 Ford brake line routing, hoses and lines including a photo of the hose that connects near the torque tube and x-member. Is that what you need?
