My 68C is Back on Track

Thank you for your earlier comments concerning the door alignment on my 31 Cabriolet. I left it for three days to do something else and calm down. When I got back into the restoration, I changed some shims and re-adjusted the turn buckles and the doors are now in a workable position.

I am now assembling the doors and have the following questions:
1. How do you properly locate the striker plates? There is no adjustment after you drill the holes in the pillar. Is there a suggestion on how to find the best location on the door jam?
2. I need to get lower glass bumpers that are mounted on a bracket inside the door. This bumper is different for the 68C. What is the part number for this bumper? This is the bumper that the glass assembly rests on when the window is down.
3. The window and its frame are in good condition except for the chrome plating. Is anyone making new frames out of polished SST or do I have to have these parts re-plated?
4. I don't have a rubber bumper for the slot in the upper most part of the pillar (68C). This bumper is held in position with a small wood screw. What is the part number for this bumper?

Thank you for all your suggestions. Ed

'Take a break and calm down...' Never bad advice! Thanks for posting.

2. I don’t think the bumper is different.
3. I make new surrounds out of mild steel. They plate well. I make stainless channel for B cabby. It can be made into C if you can TIG and polish out welds.
All pricy!

Bert`s has the rubber bumpers part # A37680. before you set your strikers. your door needs to be lined up with all the rubber bumpers in place. I like to have the body shimmed and bolted down before I set the strikers.
