Original Coil

Found this coil in my parts heap. Doesn't fit exactly with what is displayed in the JS, but is pretty close. It's got a Ford script with no circle around it on the upper portion, but the script is far smaller than on the one displayed in the JS. Near the bottom there is stamped a capital G.

JS text doesn't say anything about the size of the Ford script. It does say that the manufacturers identification near the bottom would include some manufacturers (AL, SP A SX) However it doesn't say that the marking was exclusively limited to those

The dimensions are very close to another one which I know to be original. However, the top lid is recessed just like a can.

What do you think ? Original model A or not ? If not, what is it ?

Here's one example of the date code on a coil. I've also seen the date codes on the flat part of the mounting bracket.

Tom,

The coil has a marking on the back side (facing cowl) of the bracket. See picture.

Vince,

I am in Norway. Although there was a Ford assembly plant in Copenhagen, Denmark, I have always been under the impression that most cars coming to Norway were assembled at the Rouge plant.

Thank you Vince,

Perhaps it was even the covert resistance forces who removed the coil as a matter of sabotage :-)

How do you make out that the Letter R means 1936 ?

J=1929
K=1930
L=1931
Etc., etc, ...

The letter "O" was not used as it could be confused with "0"
