You will need to remove the drum and hub as they are held together by the wheel studs and do not separate to remove from the car. The rear ones are the hardest as you need a special puller to remove the hub from the axle taper, the nut is tightened to 200 Foot-pounds when reassembled.

This is the hub puller I and others use: https://vintageprecision.com/product...ers/index.html

Bruce: Be sure and use the hub puller mentioned above so you don't damage your axle or drum. DO NOT USE THE OLD STYLE 3 LEGGED PULLER THAT BOLTS TO THE LUG NUT STUDS.

Thank you 19Forty and Meric42, now anyone have one they want to sell, here in the states rather than have another tool you use every 10 years. I have asked everyone in my area this afternoon and several suggested loosen nut and drive around and it will come loose. Well I cannot drive at this time because I have brake lines, master cylinder removed. I will ask in the Wanted Section, was hoping to have done this week. thanks again

original ford style is known as drum on hub and need to be removed as one item . The modern replacements[ boiling bros /speedway] are drum over hub and can be removed with out the hub . Tools are required so dont try to shortcut you can do some real damage search the posts on here and dont be frightened to ask questions there is plenty of advise and help available

Bruce, check on the Early V8 club site to find a club near you. If there’s a contact number call and ask about a puller. BTW, if you buy the suggested puller, you will find that you use it fairly frequently for servicing the rear brakes. Plus, you'll have many friends who will want to borrow it!
