1933 Horn problem

Have checked everything I can with volt meter. Still no joy. Is there someone who can properly restore '33 6 Volt horns?

Thank you,

D. Stewart

I remember a high/low pitch to my '34 horns. Different sounds left/right. Newc

Yes, I had trouble getting them both to work , they would each work on the bench , and each separately on the car ,but not together, I fixed to by fitting a 6v relay to them and they have worked fine since.

Re: 1933 Horn problem

Forget your voltmeter tests. Do this testing. Disconnect the wires from both horns at the horns, you will need to remove the horn covers. Each horn requires two wires which you can connect to a separate good 6 volt car battery or directly around to the cars battery terminals. Use #12 or 10 gauge wire. What you are doing here is eliminating any problems with the cars horn wiring. Often voltage loss in the cars horn wiring will cause the horns to sound bad. The horns pull quite a large current (amps) so all wiring has to be in excellent condition. Sometimes a horn relay will solve the problem. Any voltage testing should be done at the horns when they are working. Regards, Kevin.
