1950 Ford 47 (F1) will a 8BA from 53 bolt in.
 

I have a complete 1950 Ford 47 (Canadian) without motor and transmission. I have been given a 1953 F350 with a good working 8BA will the engine mounts and frame positions match

The 8ba will bolt right in. You will need the bell housing for a 1948 to 52.

And correct starter plate. '48 pu's used the 8ba

The F350 probably has the truck 4 speed transmission. You don't say what the '47 is, but if it's a pickup, you will probably be quite unhappy with that transmission.

If you have a big truck, you can ignore this.

Usually those big trucks had a heavy duty fan and different pulleys check it out maybe
it will work and maybe not.

You will need a 48-52 hogshead and half bell. A 53 8RT truck engine used car water pumps and a one year only bellhousing with ears for the rear mount. The transmission hung off the bell, unlike the earlier trucks which used the transmission as the rear mount. You will also need the 48-52 truck water pumps with the “foot”. You would be happy with the 53 4 speed, as it would be the T98 synchro-silent. Too bad it will not bolt up to the hogshead. Sorry for the bad news.

A “47” is equivalent to our F1. 47 as in 4700 GVW.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I managed to get the correct bell housing, starter plate and water pumps with the foot. Just looking for a 3 speed transmission with the mounting ears for the existing crossmember

Depending on how much work you want to do, now would be an excellent time to go with a 49 mercury overdrive transmission. the cross member would need to be slightly altered as well as the drive shaft. the rest is plug and play. Tim
