Lincoln brakes

I has Lincoln 42-46 brakes front and rear.
The 39 and 40 is very deep but one year only 41 is almost flat as a 40 Ford but the ones I has is semi deep or between the orher 2 models
( Rear is the same 39 to 46, and some use them in front to.
My rear drum is deeper than my front drum, so from edge to center is around 3.35”, but the front is not that deep at around 2.85”. ( I think I has the correct drum front to the backing plates )
-Anyway I has a Ford 16 by 4 inch so if I put it on wheel the drum pop out around 1/4” from edge of rim.
Look Ok.
Its not nice when one see the whole drum.

Now… I’m about to swith to the 41 straight backing plate if I can find them.
One told if so I need to has the same deep of rear drum to get this to work for a 39 spindle.

Is that correct ?

If I use a rear drum and install it on wheel with the rear backing plate ( this will be like the 41 fronts ) but then the drum pops out 3/4” from rim.

Now I has seen a car at YT the owner said he has the 41 front Lincolns and I’m pretty shore he has the 4” wheels and I see he has the Lincoln drums as they has a special design on the end.
Se picture.
But I also notice the drum do not pop out 3/4, they are more just as my 42 styles, so how can that be ?

I think backspace on a Ford steel 16 by 4 is 3” BS.

Ideas ?

The 1941 Lincoln drums and backing plates will work fine with the Ford 1939 spindles and 1940-48 wheels. The brakes will be tucked in flush the rim edge like this:

Yes I had wrong info.
Was at a swapmeet today and bought a pair of nice 41 drums.
Seller said ; try to get the rearbrake brake shilelds ( less expensive that std 41 fronts )
I will se what I can find at LARS.
Here is my test now, and it show as you.
Its inboard 0.3” on a 1940 4” wheel but the 42/47 is 0.3” out.
So I’m pleased see this
