8BA Tapping So I've had an open pipe that terminated under the back seat on my '52 Mainline since I got it and I just installed dual exhaust and a pair of Brockman Mellowtones. It sounds great but now I can hear every rattle and clang. There's a tapping sound that's louder on the driver's side that I never noticed before.
I tried to capture the sound I'm hearing in this video: https://youtu.be/rVH_NLOc0QQ It's louder on cold startup but it's always there. Any advice? |
Re: 8BA Tapping Sounds a lot like an exhaust leak. Header to block?

Re: 8BA Tapping Recheck the clamps that hold your mufflers in place. Make sure mufflers are not touching any part of the frame when engine is running.

Re: 8BA Tapping All I hear is what sounds like valve train noise.

Re: 8BA Tapping Sounds like an exhaust leak to me . . .

Re: 8BA Tapping Come to think of it, I never retorqued the header bolts after it ran for awhile. I'll check there first. Thanks!

Re: 8BA Tapping Be sure to put some anti-seize on those header bolts.
