deluxe speedo sticky? Is there an adjustment or lubing option on the 40 deluxe Speedo?
It's the only part of the dash I don't have fully working. If I connect it it sort of works but whines and jumps around. if I disconnect it the cable from the trans seems to turn steadily and smoothly. I'd like to get it back working :) |
Re: deluxe speedo sticky? It’s probably also due for a cleaning.

If it's jumping, I would lube the cable with graphite. |

I also found that if you support the speedo cable so it goes straight into the speedometer, without a sharp bend, it helps reduces the stress on the cable.
I used a piece of electrical wire and a wire tie. Speedo (not seen) is on the left. |

See the brass plug that is removed from the hole just above the cable hookup tube. There is a felt in there that needs a little oil. Take a sharp thin knife blade to get under the brass plug to remove it.
