Re: Carb Rebuild

Stromberg also made a model 40 duel downdraft carburetor used on the 34 Ford V8.

I believe that was the Stromberg 48.

Re: Carb Rebuild

In 34 Ford used both the 40 and 48. The two Carbs were identical in outward appearance, with the difference being the inside of the top and center sections. At sometime near 35 Ford had Stromberg mark the die casting "48" to distinguish Ford Carbs from Carbs used by other car Mfg. due to Fords rebuilding program.

I thought 40 was the model of the car, and 48 was the first Stromberg 3 bolt two barrel in '34.
Pretty sure '33 and '34 Ford cars were model 40's.

Re: Carb Rebuild

carbs.
The "40" designation came from the Ford part number prefix for 1934 automobiles. The 40's are very similar to 48's with the exception of the upper idle channel circuits. Outwardly, it's near impossible to tell the difference.
