My new Ford. My New Ford Car.
I’ve just purchased a new 2024 Ford. What a wonder. I find it unbelievable. It’s a 12-year improvement on my last car, a Mecedes. It talks to me. Tells me my speed and the weather. No way can I ever get lost and it tells me where to go, in a polite manner. The ride is really smooth and the take off is brilliant. Paintwork is really glossy and the door close like a dream. The engine is really quiet and with the auto there is practically no noticeable difference between the six gear changes up and down. Steering is wonderful and it practically steers itself. I’ll tell you how good it is. It’s nearly as good as my Model ‘A’. |
Re: My new Ford. Sounds good! What model did you get? In the states, I own an Ecosport and the wife an Escape.

Re: My new Ford. RHD, Be careful. The computer will tattle on you if you do something wrong.

Re: My new Ford. I wonder if it'll still be on the road in almost 100 years like your Model A

Re: My new Ford. In 1922 and continuing through 1925 Ford produced over 1million cars each year. 2,011,125 in 1923. Think about that. The Ford pickup is the best selling vehicle today, and they still do not produce 1,000,000 per year. Now think about what a success, and what a well orchestrated effort it was back then. From raw materials, to sales and service. What Ford did was simply amazing.
Oh and he doubled the wages of the workers. Don't we wish we had something that good today. |
Re: My new Ford. Ford didn't actually double the wages across the board. The workers got $2.34 per day, plus $2.66 in profit sharing IF they met his criteria. You had to work there for 3 months,22 years of age,(with some exceptions) but the worst part was the home inspections. The social squads went around and checked out your living conditions.Any signs of alcohol or tobbaco and you were out.Dirty house? Wife in her housecoat at 8 AM? grubby kids? Kids not in school when they should have been? Any of that took you out of the running. To be fair Henry didn't tout the wage increase like the newspapers did. They were informed, but it was more fun to scream about $5.per day than to explain the actual pay structure. At the time Henry was having a problem keeping help.He had a 380% turnover rate.He had to hire about 965 workers to keep 100.

Re: My new Ford. I purchased an Ecosport, like yourself. Probably in 10 years time it will go through the crusher.

Re: My new Ford. Where is your Ford made? Since they stopped making Ford here, they are just another imported car rebadged for the local market. I bet it's made in either Malaysia or China, maybe Japan. Certainly not USA made unless it is a Mustang. They have a terrible reputation for safety.

Re: My new Ford. regarding the being talked to- that gets old quick.
My buddies 280z in the early 80s had a sexy female voice that said "your lights are on" as you entered. he cut that wire way quick. Like an old nag......... |
Re: My new Ford. The newest onboard computers have a nice voice that will let you know if your fly is down. "Zip it up, buddy."

Re: My new Ford. Yes,and the Dodge brothers years long story was a much easier one to research back in the 70's because it was documented in many places, through the courts, the media, and thousands of depositions from all involved. They did have a legitimate gripe, they had taken risks to back him in the early years, and when their risks had paid off Henry didn't need them anymore. He felt they had made enough money off of him. There were only a handful of investors early on,and Henry tried to walk on all of them.In the end he did wind up paying them all off.Parasites,he called them.

The Ford Rangers are designed here, and built in Thailand (the ones we get here anyway). Max Tran is the Ranger chief designer. https://media.ford.com/content/dam/f...205OCT2021.pdf Cars built in Thailand are built to a price, and are not a patch on those built in Japan. |
