1932 Ford Subrail Frame Extensions Are the Subrail frame extensions the same for all body styles? More specifically, the 32 coupe, roadster and the 3 window? I know that the 32 3 window was manufactured by Murray, but did they use components from the Ford plant to build the subrail extensions in order to sit-down upon the standard frame?
I'm trying to rebuild a channeled 3 window. Thanks for your response. |
Re: 1932 Ford Subrail Frame Extensions The 3-window has a different shape back there. I really doubt the rear extensions are the same.

Re: 1932 Ford Subrail Frame Extensions Just build your floor to support the back panel and corners of the body. Given you are channeling the body IF you had originals or accurate reproductions you would be cutting them up anyway.

Re: 1932 Ford Subrail Frame Extensions I have an East Coast HEAVY channeled car............trying to UN-CHANNEL it. I also have the Juggars Coupe which is a West Coast channeled 3 window which will remain that way. thank you. bob

Re: 1932 Ford Subrail Frame Extensions Brookville has two different part numbers for subrail extensions, one for their roadster and one for their 3-window coupe. So apparently they differ somehow. The Brookville 3-window one which I have is very similar to the original Ford subrail extension but is somewhat longer. I am repairing a 32 3-window coupe in which the subrail's horizontal flanges which support the floor have been removed. We are traveling a similar road, so PM me if you want to discuss in more detail.

Re: 1932 Ford Subrail Frame Extensions Note that Brookwille 3-window bodies do not have the original type floor from below the front seat rearward to the end of the body. Instead they used their already-existing roadster, standard coupe, sport coupe, and cabriolet floor.

Re: 1932 Ford Subrail Frame Extensions Right! Most guys want to get rid of the stock floor in lieu of the roadster floor in order to obtain more room in the chassis area below. I'm just trying to get back to GROUND ZERO on this body........then move forward with the project. Interesting all of the "early" and "late" things that can go on with these bodies. I'm trying to build this as an early body with the oil can recess in the firewall, dog-bone visor brackets, more screws in the garnish moldings, etc.
