'36 distributor rebuild questions

I'm rebuilding a late 36 distributor, almost have it finished.

I was wondering what the max gap may be between the rotor and the cap contacts.

And is the washer supposed to go all the way over the pointy end of the bolt (for the plunger spring)? The pointy end is conical, it would take some creativity or force to get the washer over it.

Thanks.

From my view, I believe you are safe with your gap. What you have to watch out for is the rotor hitting the inner caps when using reproduction parts as you are doing.

As far as the vacuum plunger washer, it should and must go back on. It is conical because it originally was an upset attachment and you should do that again once the washer is back on. Try turning it as you attempt to push it back on. It came off of that shaft and it will go back on. What has happened is common especially when guys screw that adjuster too far out. Don’t forget to put the adjuster in the outer nut before attaching the washer.

I'm not much help for you because all my good motors are 49-53. I just need the post count.
