Paint color for 32 Tudor belt rail panel (dash) I did a search and did not find a thread on paint color for the belt rail panel on a 32 Tudor. I am new at doing searches so may not have typed in the correct key words. Does anyone have a color code for the rail panel? I assume it is the same color that was used on the window trim as well. I appreciate any information. Thanks!

Re: Paint color for 32 Tudor belt rail panel (dash) I suggest you invest in a copy of "The 1932 Ford Book" from the Early Ford V8 club (https://shop.efv8.org/collections/fo...tbound-all-new). It will answer questions you didn't even know you had. David did an excellent job with this book. You might want to add what model (std or dlx) you have and is it early or late (might be different).

Maybe this will help you?

I believe that the question is regarding the interior belt rail panel (dash) and the other interior moldings in a standard '32 Tudor. Ford's name for the color was simply "interior gray", although it was more brown than gray.
You have what I believe too be only two choices, custom match from an original sample or buy the paint at autocolorlibrary.com (third page of their '32 color pages on their website). |

Re: Paint color for 32 Tudor belt rail panel (dash) I looked at the backside of my Tudor's well-preserved dash and door window moldings to get an idea of the correct color. All three pieces had noticeably different colors ranging from very grey to grey-brown. I've had all three scanned and mixed. When I have some test cards, I'll post them.

One of the best preserved of any '32 standard closed cars.

Looks quite different than the earlier posted photo. The first one looks somewhat like the color on the backside of my dash. |

Thanks everyone for the great information! Unfortunately my belt rail got sand blasted and primed before I took photos so I do not have a good reference of color. David’s attached photos are wonderful and really helpful for seeing what it should look like. I will discuss with my painter and see if we can come up with a close match. I did attach a photo of a window trim piece but it was rusted and very brown. By the way David, I do have your two volume restoration books, “The 1932 Ford Book”. They are so helpful and enabled me to get the body back together and looking great!. John, if you get a color from your scan, I would love if you post it for me.

Re: Paint color for 32 Tudor belt rail panel (dash) I have a follow-up question to the paint color of the dash /belt rail panel. Are all the other trim parts in the interior of the car the same color as the belt rail panel? Looking at the pictures above, they look the same but I would like to verify before moving forward. Also, does anyone have a good way to paint the highlighted chicken tracks on the side kick panels just in front of the doors

Re: Paint color for 32 Tudor belt rail panel (dash) In a standard '32 closed ca, all of the window garnish moldings, the moldings at the sides of the windshield, and the dash were originally painted the same color, "interior gray".
Spray painting reproduction cowl trim panels, be they made of fiberglass or trim panel cardboard will work just fine. That should apply to original panels as well. I would likely opt for paint designed for use on flexible surfaces. |

Re: Paint color for 32 Tudor belt rail panel (dash) Thank you David and Deuce lover!! I had help from my local NAPA store on getting a color similar to the pictures both of you have send (and David, matching the color in your restoration book) … which I appreciate! I did not want to start painting the window trim and panels without verifying they are the same color.
