Re: L100 cam @KiwiTony (member here) is/was the person grinding these cams. Hopefully he'll pop on to this thread.

Re: L100 cam I was probably one of the persons that introduced the cam to the Barn, During the late 80;s & 90's I installed them in most of my builds. The main reason was the "SOUND", and properly tuned it preformed quit well. Unfortunately, many people don't have the knowledge or equipment to properly tune a Flathead. The can has 245 degrees of intake duration, which means that a 9:1 compression engine has only 6:1 at low and medium RPM Thes ran poorly at best in a small displacement endgame, especially in a heavy car.Originaly the cam from my shop cost 125$ lifters 45$ 16 1.5 Chevy valves 50$ Today you can't do that Ina 280/300 ci inch engine, it works just fine However in a "STREET" engine a Max 1 would provide more torque and you don't need all the other stuff. When making a modification to any engine. The application is the important issue/ Esticits adds no power are economy to any engine. The Barn should help newcomers make good decisions.

Re: L100 cam thanks Ron I’ve talked to you many times throughout the years I too am an old fart. I’ve been in flathead building forever on and off. Well I’m on again lol I want this cam for a 286 build. I have never use this cam, but it’s either gonna be L100 or a 400 junior. I always respect your input. Thank you.

Re: L100 cam Tony was in NZ on vacation, but he is definitely your man to grind an L100 cam.
|
Re: L100 cam The 400jr is a great cam for racing, it was my go to cam untill the D410 came out. For a street engine the L-100 has a kinder profile and can be run with less valve spring pressure 55/60 and still turn 5k. Price here isn't an issue as both are alittle expensive. Too bad JWL's dyno isn't in operation we could test allot of OLD cams. I just found a Howards M-8 in my stash (NEW) interesting lobe. They were popular back in the 50;s/60's

Re: L100 cam H&H will grind a L100 but by the time I get a core to them and all that shipping crap not worth it. I tryed to get a hold of BoB but was unsuccessful. And they see where he has sold the cam. I’ll find one or find something to grind one. I have lots of cores

Re: L100 cam Old post, but I saw Brother's Custom posted that the Bean Bandits Bonneville car went 140+ using one of Tony's L100's. Kudos Tony for keeping this cam in circulation. I've got two in the shop that will be going in future build projects.

Re: L100 cam I've got one too that is just going in a build

Re: L100 cam Support the barn and buy quality. KiWinUS has known quality cams. Tony is great to deal with.

Re: L100 cam KiWinUS ground a stock 8ba cam to L100B specs for my blower motor and I think it runs perfect!

Re: L100 cam I have one for sale for an early engine with a press on cam gear that I'm not going to use. I'm in PA.
What does just the grinding cost these days? |
Re: L100 cam Is KiWinUS still grinding L100s ?
