Does A 1953 f-100 have A resister in the wiring or an internal resister in the coil. thank you

Ford was using the 1.5-OHM primary can type coil in the 8BA era so it requires no ballast resistor on 6-volts. When Ford changed over to 12-volts in 1956, they had to use a ballast to control the current to the coil for reliability. They kept doing this with either a ballast resistor or a resistor wire clear up into the 60s. The other manufacturers did too for the most part.
