Runningboard preservation question old model A hot rod
 

Bought this great 60s model A. The builder installed his mothers own kitchen floor mat on the running boards. Today because of shake rattle & roll the look is cracking away. Do you have any suggestions of how to restore or preserve?

Just replace it, it is too far gone and looks ugly. You can buy new linoleum for that kitchen floor look.

Here's what I would do.

1. Remove what's on it now.
2. Sand down as necessary and paint that section black. You ought to be able to roll on Rustoleum oil based black enamel. Mask off the red carefully on all adjoining panels. You'll want nice clean crisp edges. If you don't have painting experience, you may want to hire someone to do this for you ---- it's not as easy as it might sound but it's doable.

4. Trim to fit if necessary. Install.
