Head gaskets v8

How big is the piston bore before having to use overbore gaskets?
Thanks

I think Ken has it about right. If I was .080 or larger, then go to the big-bore versions. Also, I tend to sue the GraphTite style gaskets on street engines from Best Gasket.

I've seen a lot less electrolysis with the composite style versus the copper-sandwich types.

Now, if you are doing other things to prevent electrolysis, then maybe not an issue. I also like the Cometic MLS gaskets - really nice product, but expensive. One nice thing is that they are available in many different gasket thichnesses.

Important! You must have the correct (pretty smooth) surface finish on the decks and heads to run MLS gaskets and not have coolant weeping.

I use copper on all.
I run 50/50 anti freeze on the street with 1 can of Bars Leaks.
I run straight water on the track with 1 can of Bars Leaks.

I have never noted any electrolysis etching.

Why the Bars Leaks? in my past experience Bars Leaks was a good way to block radiators.

Water pump lube and anti corrosion of the system.

Works well for me with no radiator problems.

He’s been doing it for many decades with high volume impellers.

Generally speaking, as long as your radiator is clean in the first place, it won't cause you any trouble, It gets a bad wrap from people who have a compromised radiator and then dump stop leak in it, well guess what, it will plug the radiator up then. On the other hand Trying to run a flathead with a dirty radiator isn't the best idea in the world anyway! LOL
