Door bumper installation 1 Attachment(s)
I bought a 28-29 door bumper set (pictured) for my 29 Roadster Pickup but I cannot see how to install it without completely dismantling the door. Anyone got any handy tips?

Re: Door bumper installation Hello, I have a 31 roadster and put in new rubber door kit, takes some hand fit on upper door so they don’t keep doors from closing. On the dovetail area as you show I had to fit the rubber and bend the metal clip to get it in door, then bend it back to shape .

Re: Door bumper installation To me, this was one of the more frustrating restoration projects for the door area itself. The metal clip seemed a lighter gauge material that bent very easily, and for me would not retain a shape. The second kit went a little easier for the metal part, and the rubber bumpers needed alot of trimming to fit. Dawn dish soap made the insert better,, again on the second kit.
My advice would be to have a kit to practice with, and a second once you feel comfortable with it. Just my take on the door bumper install. kb |
Re: Door bumper installation Make sure you remove all the old hard rubber so that cavity is clean, no debris. You have to hand trim the rubber pieces based on your door alignment.

Picture of installed dovetail rubber and clip , needle nose pliers are helpful to reform the metal clip.
