1939 clutch pedal return stop Fab’ing up ‘39 pedals in my Av8 with no K member. Everything looks good but just wondering what stopped the clutch pedal when the return spring pulls it back. Something has to stop it to be able to adjust the free play. It’ll be easy to add a bump stop but just wondering what the original car had ??

Re: 1939 clutch pedal return stop Floorboard.

Re: 1939 clutch pedal return stop That and the pedal bumpers. The floor board has to be installed to adjust clutch.

Re: 1939 clutch pedal return stop Believe like 40 there were thick foam rubber pads. They fit over the pedal arm and follow the action of the pedal. When the pedal is released the rubber seals the holes in the floorboard.

Re: 1939 clutch pedal return stop Thanks guys that definitely answered my question and makes a lot of sense . Since I have the 39 pedals in an A chassis it’ll be easy to fab up something. Now it’s time for me to shut up and just do it !!
