New tie rod bushings too big to fit I ordered a tie rod bolt/bushing replacement kit from Snyders, but when I went to install the bushings, they physically won't fit in the tie rod. Before I call Snyders, I though I would check with you guys to see if this is common problem. The OD of the new bushing in .68XX and the ID of the tie rod hole is .65XX I tried to press it in, but no go. I don't want to bore out the tie rod because it's been this way for ever, and I don't want to ruin it. The old bushings fell right out with no pressing.

Re: New tie rod bushings too big to fit The original bushings were steel, is possible what fell out was some type of replacement used to fill the void because the bolt was worn and that the original bushings are still in place? The replacements might be tight to install but not that tight and .030 is quite a bit of difference. Look closer.

Re: New tie rod bushings too big to fit That’s a good point. The bushing that came out did look thinner than the new one but there wasn’t that much slop. It could have been put there to shim it up. I’ll take another look. Thanks
