just a heads-up I just watched iron trap garage, they just put up a 1939 phaeton that runs and drives. I don't know a price yet

Re: just a heads-up No such animal. Do you mean a '39 convertible sedan?
|
Re: just a heads-up It is a convertible sedan. It looks like a big project from the first video they posted, junk and garbage up to the tops of the doors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrj1Vanpbk8

Re: just a heads-up Runs and drives? Typical Iron Trap b.s..

Re: just a heads-up So, are you guys implying that once in a while, one needs to Turn or Stop ?
|
Re: just a heads-up .
Soooo ..... Are you guys suggesting that they are supposed to haul that kind of thing straight to the crusher? I don't understand the negativity! Coop . |
Re: just a heads-up In my case it's not about the car itself, but rather about the b.s.er.

Re: just a heads-up Quote:
It is the manufactured drama and misleading statement that bothers me. I went and watched parts of the last video on the car. They got the engine to run, removed trash from the car, and fixed the brakes. There are no gauges, the throw-out bearing was making horrible noises, the cooling system was totally unknown, the wiring was non-existent, etc. The people in the video were even joking they might not make it to the gas station five minutes away. That is not running and driving. That is reality TV drama. |

This is my friend that recently passed away's 1939 convertible sedan. Built flathead in it. They are trying to get 24k for it. I don't think they've had even a nibble on it. |

Re: just a heads-up Some need to understand what Iron Trap Garage is doing helps spread what we all enjoy. Fact there's a much younger generation than most of us here on the barn that follow and admire what the Iron Trap guys are doing especially with getting old Ford cars. trucks and parts back into circulation after their prior owners allowed the stuff to in many cases just deteriorate.
When any one from a younger generation has the opportunity to acquire something from what's been found and is now being offered is a win the way I see it. Ronnieroadster |
Re: just a heads-up I know Matt Murray from Iron Trap Garage, and I have never known him to be BS'r. He spends the time, effort, and money to acquire a lot of stuff that has been sitting for years. He travels all over the USA on his own dime to get the stuff that he has gotten. Be thankful that he is willing to hunt the stuff out, and to get it back into circulation. Otherwise a lot of what he finds may end up in landfills, or scrap yards.

Re: just a heads-up To each his own opinion.

Re: just a heads-up As a new to flatheads guy, I commend anyone finding an old car and attempting to fire it up. Ronnieroadster said it right, there are a lot of younger people (myself included, but I'm not really that young lol) that enjoy watching someone else wrenching on old iron that is getting very hard to find. I've posted my own videos on YouTube with the flathead I found, and have enjoyed the comments I received, even some of the critical ones. It's all a learning experience and I've learned many things from YouTube that is in no manual anywhere.

Do ya recon that Matt ought to just toss any raggedy old '32 parts in the nearest dumpster? Coop . |

I'm already the president of the Connecticut Street Rod Association and the condo association where my little Hobby shop is located. That's enough for me at this time. Ronnieroadster |
