E-Brake Release Button Rattle I have a 1929 with the push button style emergency brake lever. Not too long ago, the button itself on top developed a rattle while driving down the road. The button itself feels loose. If you gently rest your thumb on it, the rattle goes away. Any tips on how to fix the issue?
This is a new issue, I've hunted down almost all the other squeaks, squeals, and rattles on this thing. I cannot stand the sound of a rattling car and I'm getting sick of driving with my thumb resting on the button all day |
Re: E-Brake Release Button Rattle Ford may have used a felt anti-rattle piece on the rod inside the handle. They used something like that on the throttle & spark control rods to prevent rattles.

I'm not having much luck finding info on the handle. All I can find is refurbished ones for sale. Other than the rattle mine is in fine shape though |
Re: E-Brake Release Button Rattle Most parts suppliers have the felt that slides on the rod. You will have to remove the button by pressing the pin out and remove the ratchet bolt to slide the housing off, then you can slide the felt on.

It says two of them are required on Ecklers, do they both just jam in there? Or is there anything else I need to install them? |
Re: E-Brake Release Button Rattle I only use one bur two will be ok. Just make sure the felt is pushed up towards the top of the housing.
