no key for locking hub cap.......

My 32 came with a 33 locking cap on the spare. I don't have the key. How do I get it off?

Sorry about that... I was in the garage and fired off a post on my blackberry hoping for a quick response. We were taking the tank off. I just took the whole bracket with the tire on it in one piece.

No need to be sorry. It was easier for me to pull up those other posts then to retype what I had done previously on one of my '35's. I don't know about your '32 but it was pretty easy to remove the entire spare tire and mounting assembly and then go in through the back and push the locking pins in to get the locked cap off. There was no way I was going to destroy a nice lock cylinder to get the cap off. There were no numbers on my cylinder to have a key cut to, but a good locksmith can rekey the cylinder by repacing the little pins.

I took my spare tire rack off as I was pulling the gas tank anyway. The only access I have is through two lug holes... and I couldn't seem to reach anything.

I was thinking the '32 would be a lot different than my '35 that I got the locking cap off of from the back. Maybe you could take that whole spare assembly to a good locksmith and he could pick that lock open for you. Might be worth a try. Did you ever get in touch with Russell, 1932guy, to talk to him about getting a title in MD?

John,

I haven't called him yet as I was waiting till I actually had the bill of sale from my cousin in hand (which I am still waiting for). I bought it in 5 easy payments and just made the last one last month.
