Anyone have a rivet buck/waffle tool I can borrow? I ordered both months ago, not realizing they were out of stock. Backordered everywhere.
My cowl project is stalled until I can rivet the subrail extensions back together. Maybe, someone has one they can spare for a few weeks (I can send a deposit) or has a suggestion for a suitable alternative. New rivets, I have. Thanks for any suggestions. |
Re: Anyone have a rivet buck/waffle tool I can borrow? I have used a framing claw hammer with a waffled head, kind of coarse and clumsy. A better waffle pattern ,I use and like more can be found on removable vise jaws, sometimes hardened (HF). Advantage is that they can be re-shaped, re-mounted, or even put on a dolly or appropriate screw jack to fit the application(don't use a hydraulic jack to back up a rivet buck, the hammer shock kills them). Jaws can even be attached to a cheap pneumatic palm-nailer ($25,HF), imagine your own uses for that.

Re: Anyone have a rivet buck/waffle tool I can borrow? Have you checked with your local Model A club? Most have tool libraries and allow members to check out tools.

Re: Anyone have a rivet buck/waffle tool I can borrow? That just occurred to me. I have only been a member for a few months, I should find out.
