Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater If I had to guess, I'd say that's for a pickup. The passenger car is probably very different.

Any help appreciated Does your heater look like this one? Vintage 1942-48 Ford Heater https://www.2040-parts.com/_content/...047561/001.jpg |
Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater Pete, I based my statement on the fact that the diagram you supplied says : "1948-50". The pickups were basically the same over those years while the cars were not.

Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater Yes, that is what it looks like.

Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater That diagram is different. I’m trying to determine if a bushing or whatever goes between the heater core and the fan housing.

Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater I just took one that looks like the photo apart, and was surprised to find three 5-6” sections of rubber hose between the heater core and the sheetmetal housing. The hose looked like sections of heater hose. I suppose I’ll try to reinstall with fresh sections of hose to keep things from rattling and rubbing, or come up with something more effective.

Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater My '47 heater looks like the photo posted by petehoovie. I'm in the process of restoring it. The photos posted by meric42 are quite helpful, but if he could email me the higher resolution photos he has, that would be great.
My other issue is, all the motor wires have been cut off at the wire cover plate on the back panel (Yikes!). Does anyone have a schematic showing what wires go to which points in the interior of the motor with corresponding colors for the 4 contact control switch? Thanks |
Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater Third Gen in TN has the wiring harness for the heater and the diagram. P/N is 51A-18457.
Just did my 46 this summer with that harness. |
Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater Great! Then I need to know how to wire them to the motor!

This may help:

Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater Thanks, FortyNiner. I'll be pulling out the motor today and try to determine which wire is which.
My fear is that the wires are unmarked inside the motor. On the outside, all the wires appear to be the same color! |
Re: Diagram of parts for 1942-48 passenger heater 1 Attachment(s)
Just took the cover off my 42 Mercury heater and didn't know what you guys were talking about rubber hose, bushing, pads, etc. Mine had nothing. Then, when I went to sandblast the cover on the underside or inside the cover itself were two hard rubber pads glued to the cover. They came off easily and pic attached. They feel like weatherstripping to me. After paint dries, I'll glue them back in place. One on each inside face plate on each side, not top or bottom,.
