Powerhouse generator brush reconnection
 

Hi all,
I’ve got an Erie lead that’s become disconnected from the adjustable brush in my powerhouse generator. I’m curious if I need to replace the whole brush and lead (and if so, where to best source that as I don’t seem to be having luck on the supplier sites), or if it something I could resolver myself to the housing piece or brush itself. Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't have a lot of experience with Powerhouse generators but I have not had any luck re connecting a wire to a carbon brush. I know it is hard to find Powerhouse parts but maybe someone else knows of a source. You may try another brush from a different generator and file it down to fit the holder. Or try soldering or crimping the wire to the holder. That may work but be intermittent and cause the amperage to fluctuate.

The four armature brushes are part number A-10069-AR and the field brush is the part number A-10070-AR. There is a fellow that has a set for the three brush powerhouse generator.

The brushes are getting hard to find. Some folks whittle down larger brushes to fit.

we you going to hershey?, i could bring a set
you could try drilling a small hole slightly larger than the wire and forcing a piece of toothpick in to hold the wire as a temporary repair

Drilling a hole in the brush and stuffing the wire in may work. There is electrically conductive adhesive used in the electronic industry. It is silver filled. See https://www.masterbond.com/propertie...tive-adhesives
