35 Taupe or Metallic Taupe

Reading through the 35-36 Ford Book (Bible) it says to paint the following:

Steering Column: Dark Taupe
Steering Column Support Bracket: Dark Taupe
Dash: Metallic Taupe
Waterfall: Dark Taupe (I think this is wrong) should it match the dash?
Window Moldings: Metallic Taupe
Mirror Bracket: Dark Taupe

Questions: Shouldn't the waterfall match the dash?

Did Henry really use two colors of Taupe; Dark Taupe and Metallic Taupe?

In the book is see a color chip on Metallic Taupe but not Dark Taupe.

I'm trying to put it back as original as I can. The car is Deluxe by the way.

Thanks for your help.

Peder

Re: 35 Taupe or Metallic Taupe

I'll tell you what little I know. My 35 coupe had the original paint on the steering column and the dash. And like the book said the steering column was dark taupe and the rest was a metallic taupe. It was hard to tell about the waterfall. I decided, since paint is expensive, to paint everthing metallic taupe. I purchase the paint from TCP Global. Now they had metallic and non metallic taupe. I bet the non metallic taupe is the same as dark taupe. I did not asked if they had dark because I knew I was going with metallic. And orignal or not, I think it is a real pretty color, not only for the dash and window frames, but for the steering also.

Peder, Ford often used the terms Taupe and dark taupe interchangeably. I used the term that Ford used in their descriptions. As a general rule all trim pieces, garnish moldings, and dash were painted a metallic taupe lacquer. The steering column, column support/locking mechanism, and steering wheel were painted a non-metallic taupe enamel. Enamel was used on the steering items because it was more durable than lacquer. The enamel, while close in color and shade to the metallic taupe lacquer, didn't have metallic flakes in it.
