1935 Slant 48 Window Channel Kit Screws Young fella here to learn from others.
I ordered a Window Channel Kit and it included screws. Do I need these? If so, do the screws go through the channel? Should I glue the whole thing instead? Does anyone have instructions available? Jason |
Re: 1935 Slant 48 Window Channel Kit Screws The kit I used on my 36 Tudor some years back had screws with it. These were used to hold the window weather strips on the outside of the window. Correct size holes were already in the door metal.Be sure to get the screws in straight and make the go just below the fuzzy strip. A crooked screw are high screw will leave you with a scratched window.

Re: 1935 Slant 48 Window Channel Kit Screws I ditched the straight slot screws that came with the kit and ordered equivalent phillips screws from Macmaster Carr. Glue may work; but I would still use a couple screws. Should be able to locate and reuse the original holes, or drill new holes close to that location if they are unusable.

Re: 1935 Slant 48 Window Channel Kit Screws Originals fastened with clips. Vintique who likely made the kit, supplies both the clips and supplies the screws for those who's doors are the earlier 1935 style or doors are mutilated by a previous glass shop install, or those who find the screws easier and/or more secure.
