Alternator Hey guys I’m installing a 6V alternator from HEI “Hagemeister Enterprise”
My issue is the belt tensioner doesn’t seem to have to correct angle on it. It runs the alternator and is barely able to be bolted on the very start of the tension opening. The belt is on but very tight!! Am I missing something? Thanks |
Re: Alternator I got it to go together with a few altercations but the belt still a bit tight for my liking

Re: Alternator What belt are you using?

Re: Alternator D&D power drive I ordered from Snyders I believe

Re: Alternator Are their longer belts I can use with this setup?

Re: Alternator I noticed that some belts are just smaller than others. When I got my "A" it came with lots of extra parts including 3 belts. Now I am not positive that they were specifically for a Model A but all the other parts that came with my car were for a Model A so I have to assume so. They seemed slightly different in length but I did not test them and went with brand new.
I had bought a belt from Oreillys that didn't fit (I think that one was too long) and one from Snyders that did fit perfectly. Additionally I have one from Brattons on order now just to see if it is the same. If you would like me to send you my long one from Oreillys I would be happy to. You pay the ride! Just PM me. |
Re: Alternator If a BX42 is too small, try a BX43 or BX44.

Re: Alternator Well I feel like a big Dummy!! I was bolting the tensioner in the location of the original and it needed to be bolted on one bolt further back on the timing cover for the new tensioner to line up. Took a hot minute to wake up but without directions I just assumed it went back where the other one was mounted. Thanks everyone!
