Cotter Key Plastic Box Information Needed

A few years ago someone posted a picture of a plastic compartment box about 6x4x1 inches and a table of all cotter keys used in a Model A. You put the table on top of the box. That made a good selection of the cotter keys. I put together one or two of these boxes to have and now I cannot find it or the table. Is there a better memory out there than mine and can you post the information? I would appreciate this.

McMaster Carr has cotter pin sets in zinc plated and stainless steel in plastic boxes. See https://www.mcmaster.com/products/co...n-assortments/

Here are some pics of the box I made. I have not saved the file, but it was from someone on FordBarn, so it might show up in a search.
The box is 10 3/4 X 6 3/4 X 1 3/4 inches.

Re: Cotter Key Plastic Box Information Needed

Are the shapes/finishes of the cotter pins originally used in the Model A the same as the ones commercially available today? Are the profiles of the wires used to form the pins the same, and are the shapes of the loops the same, and are the ends clipped off the same way?
I guess what I'm really asking is: are the modern ones correct for Fine Point Judging?
And are any different (perhaps more 'correct') designs currently available? And if not, what's the option?
Thanks
JB

A good friend gave me this one years ago. I couldn't imagine doing without it.

The short answer to your question is No. The shape and the finish that is required to not receive any deduction is typically incorrect with what you find commercially available today. Doc Kalinka wrote an article several years ago (-many years ago actually) that covered this. To be correct in F/P, you either must find old pin stock, -or modify new ones and have Cad plated.

I am getting to this party kinda late, but I made a PDF copy of my spreadsheet that we use to label the inside of the containers when we make in-house kits. I also included a sheet that has hyperlinks to what cotters we use. I know this is a larger quantity than most will ever use, but maybe you can order some and make multiple kits to share with your friends??

Where did your friend purchase the storage container?

I made my cotter pin box a few years ago. I purchased the box at Walmart. This is the item description and number Flambeau Tuff Tainer 4007, 24 Compartment Divider with Zerust Protection. It appears that they still carry this item. Less than $5.00. Supergnat

I purchased mine at Lowes several years ago. It is called a '12 compartment parts box'. I don't see them listed any longer on their website (-which is no surprise coming from them ) but I can send you my Excel file and you can modify it to fit whatever size box you choose to use.
