there is a category on the hamb that lets you donate parts to other members


why do we not have a similar category on the Barn?


I always have a few parts that I would donate. It would also address everyones discussion about leaving parts to heirs, who would scrap them anyway.

Ron, that is a great idea!

Our family had loads of parts we didn't need and one fellow said it was worthless but would take it away. We declined that deal and decided to donate it to a fellow that would appreciate it. He continues paying it forward to others from these parts.

I just received parts from a Fordbarner who asked only shipping cost. It's good and kind people like him that help make for a bright Model A future!

knowing that the sites are sister sites, I have wondered that for awhile.........


it expands the base and builds the community. I was able to pickup a rear seat for my 35 ford yesterday, from the Hamb. Met the most terrific fella and got to see what hes working on and enjoy some talk about cars. Definitely a worthwhile endeavor and a great way to make new friends.........

Just an opinion;
The local Clubs used to play in this realm, it helped the newer members along and retained them longer.

I see too many times at the "garage sale" after a member has passed, some non-members buying up many of the parts. Later to see on ebay or craigslist.

of course that will always be true John. The Hamb doesnt have to have that category, but then again, the seat I was given went to good use. It would have been discarded in the trash otherwise.
Nobody has to give anything away......... and that is fine, but the goodwill it brings certainly does help the cause. Some guys like myself, dont have a lot to offer in the way of mechanical skills to other members, but a few extra parts are always handy, when you dont need them yourself.
Anyway it is just a thought and if embraced by just a few, would be fine.


as a side note, I sold a fender to a fella on here last yr for 150. He was happy to get it and I was happy to get it off my garage wall. Others on here stated that they wouldnt take less then 500. for a good fender. To each his own. Most of those guys will still own that fender when theyre dead. We each look at things quite differently and for our own purposes.

I stop by that thread once a week, for the fun of it. For me its diff then the swap. anyway, to each his own.

A club member who sold his car and parts for low prices said “Look at how much space is in a coffin.” In other words, you can’t take it with you. He said he felt good that it got into the hands of someone who would take care of it.

recently recd an email from a gal out in CO.


Her father had passed at 96 yrs of age. He and I both trade in car titles and knew each other well. He referred me when someone needed one he didnt have. Well, he left a note for his daughter to give me a holler when he passed, to get his titles.
Several"friends" swarmed in, wanting them for free. I really didnt want or need them, but made her a very fair offer and they will be arriving today.


Point is, he knew I would get them in good hands and I was touched that he thought of me in that way and trusted me. We can all make similar decisions in life.
