John and Julie Kluttz and Family. Drove two Model A's from NC to Tacoma, Washington in 1994. They went back for the second MARC / MAFCA joint meet. Over 6,000 miles for two Model A's.

I have driven to Calgary Canada, twice from the SF Bay Area and all over the west coast. Fun times.

Been there. Done that. With Anaheim CA as our base, my wonderful wife of 63 years Jeanne, and I started out with trips to regional meets and "short trips" to Arizona, Nevada and Utah. A national meet in Dallas TX and Kansas City added Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado.

A NW Regional meet in Calgary really, set the hook, adding Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Calgary Canada, Washington and Oregon.

To date, we have driven our dependable 28 Tudor over 100,000 miles and pretty much worn it and us out. It you search my old posts you might find some of my road tour reports listed as Ride along with Rich and Jeanne. 49 states and hoping we will someday complete the 50th with Alaska.

I wouldn't trade a single mile or a single contact with so many wonderful people in our wonderful country for a best of show judging trophy.

Australia is the same size as your mainland 48 states. I have driven right around the country (continent) and south to north and return 5 times, every time towing a camper trailer that weighs as much as the car. About 45-50 thousand miles in all.
As Richard says, I wouldn't exchange a mile of it nor meeting the people we have.
We're off again tomorrow for another 1,000 miles rally. Just keep on rack'n em up!

Will be home tomorrow avo, Friday, if you are cruising by. I Bridge st, and as the number and name suggest, next to the bridge. the old railway bridge that is.
1,000 miles. Yes, I too like to talk distance in miles. not as many to travel as kilometres. 1,000 miles is 1,600km

Ron, if you want a story to inspire you even more, read a few from the late Ron Cloat. Rainmaker Rod (-as many of us knew him by) was a guy that DID exactly what many people only ever dream about. Thankfully Vince Falter has preserved a lot of his writings on his website. Below is one such story;

The late Roger Kauffman drove a Tudor with his wife DeeDee along from Ohio to SoCal.

This was maybe 20 years ago, he told the tale over several issues of the Model A News, it was a great read.

He bought the car out of long storage and restored it mechanically for the trip.
One story I recall was losing a spark plug connector out in the boonies and making one from a piece of old barbed wire out of an abandoned fence row.

1973, San Diego to New Hampshire & back the MARC meet in Dearborn (where I replaced the exhaust valves), then west to Seattle & down Hiway 1 through Big Sur & home. 9000 miles in 7 weeks in a 1928 roadster pickup w/A trailer.

Drove my '30 sedan in my avatar from Fort Worth, TX to Detroit, MI and into Canada before going to the Model A Museum's grand opening in 2013-- then headed back home. It was almost 4,000 miles round trip and I had no major issues. Just a broken alternator bracket that was re-welded a trucking yard.

Took that car to the 2018 MARC meet in Branson, MO. I think that was about a 1,500 round trip, not quite the same adventure.

In June we are taking the car to Breckenridge, CO for the High Country Tour. This will be it's second trip to Breckenridge. It's right at 1,000 miles one-way and with the mileage while touring there, I anticipate a 2,500 trip.

Long distance trips are the best time in a Model A. While I enjoy driving it in town, really stretching it's legs and seeing the back roads of America really is better than staying on the main highways. I have 44,000 miles on this particular sedan in touring and probably about 17,000 between my other two.

Back in 1962 a group went from New York City to Sacramento for the second MAFCA national meet in eight days. A member of our club who participated on that tour recently gave a presentation about that trip to our club. I made a video of his presentation and I have it posted on Youtube. As I remember it, it was back in the 1980s that a group of you yanks drove their As around the world. That included crossing this continent. Then there is the guy who drove his Model A through north and south America. I can't find anything about it on the web but there are accounts of similar trips being done in Model Ts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ4XvU4tM5s for example.
I have a friend who, in 2013 drove his 1913 Model T from Melbourne, Australia (right down in he SE corner of the country) to Moscow solo - that is NO support vehicle or even company. He is a quiet guy who avoided publicity so there is nothing on the web about it.
Kinda makes our trips in Model As seem ho-hum, IMO
