pin striping............ how many of you guys tried this yourselves and how did it come out?

Re: pin striping............ I make my living at it.......practice, practice, practice, then practice more !

Re: pin striping............ I have used the Bugler. Works ok but free-hand better
|
Re: pin striping............ Post #2 is the best pinstripper known to man. He does a fantastic job and is quick. He did my tudor in 45 minutes and it turned out perfect.

Re: pin striping............ Just takes practice. I started using a magnetic strip as a guideline. It worked good on old trucks...
|
Re: pin striping............ I used the masking tape that is put down and then the center is pealed up. I feathered the ends so that it looked semi freehand.

Re: pin striping............ What brush to use? Mack 10 size 000?
|
Re: pin striping............ Personal preference thing... Mack Blue #00.
Small brush won't carry enough paint to complete a panel. |

Re: pin striping............ Gene, you need to get out more often.
Ask who I am at Hamilton, someone will point you in the right direction. Look forward to meeting you. jb |
Re: pin striping............ think Im going to give it a shot on my cab- I now know the brush type, thanks which I know is all important. Now where does one buy a small can of apple green paint for striping?
|
Re: pin striping............ Find 1shot…comes in small cans. Search internet
Many colors. |
Re: pin striping............ Ron, I've matched original Apple Green from an unrestored '31 coupe using One Shot Dark Blue, Lemon Yellow & a touch of Black. (Trust your eye!)
I used to pre-mix my colors before a Meet, but everyone's wheel color varied so much it was easier to start with fresh tints. One Shot is very forgiving so 'less than perfect' can be washed off easily with mineral spirits. It's all about 'flight time' behind the brush. |
