I wonder why that "1931 Ford Sedan" has a 1930 radiator shell, 1930 two-oiece splash aprons and an early 1930 dash panel with oval speedo? ;-)

Jay,

Very common in that era for the car to given the year of first registration.

I knew of a Rolls Royce that was built in 1927, but not sold until 1929, and so registered as a '29.

I didn't think about that, thanks. I was thinking more along the lines of "someone is trying to make the car a year younger than it is", especially since that's an early '30. Or it has an incorrect title (since the frame number is not easily accessible to verify, and many A engines don't match the original frame number anyway).

Hello, I have seen incorrect year on a few Pennsylvania original cars , a friend had a 1940 Pontiac that was sold in 1939 as titled as such.Don’t know how common that was , New model year car were usually introduced late in the year . Original owner would have lost a lot a trade in time . The Pontiac was a local car and was bought from son of original owners so history was known.
