cheap seat covers??????????

ok this topic has been discussed several times

who makes inexpensive seat covers?

well my answer is one step better then an indian blanket. I bought this cover for 35. w free shipping on ebay....... colors are black tan and grey

eBay item number:304582338671

the center sections zip out, so you can shrink it to your application
I nstalled one this morning on my 40 ford pickup and it fit, well way better
then the loose springs that were sitting in there. With some finess, Im sure most of you could get a better fitment then I got, but hey- cheap seat covers!
should fit pickup, coupe and maybe can be adapted to radster etc.
may not work on sedans.

anyway................ apologies for not being able to post the ebay site.

Re: cheap seat covers??????????

Just ordered a tan one for my Coupe. I' need to have the stock seats repaired and I'm building a plywood and foam seat so I can drive the car for the 4-8 weeks the shop wants the stockers. I was going to take the wife to the fabric store but this was much easier - I figure all I'll need to install is a staple gun.

I bet it's not shoddy at all. I'll order one also as what I have now is pretty rough.

ModelA29, I have a coupe also. Could you let us know how the cover fits the coupe seat. I'm thinking of going with tan too.

Wish I’d known about this about 4 months ago. I got an old sewing machine given to me, went to hobby lobby and bought material and dusted off the old home economics skills. It definitely took me a bit of time but this is what I came out with….

Shiloh, You should be proud of your work. This stuff isn't taught anymore and a you will enjoy your efforts every time you sit in your truck. Made by you, not China.

shilow- you did well. I have a professional sewing machine out in my garage, but the task looks daunting to me.

so for 35. I have a spare on the shelf for my next "project" which could be coming as soon as tuesday.............
the covers arent the cats meow, but they are certainly quick and get the job done.
Not a big fan of supporting china, but we did this to ourselves 40 yrs ago and now have nobody willing to work for under 1000. a day.

yes Im joking, but not far off..........

It really isn’t all that hard. What was the hardest for me was the putting the seat covers over the material and using hog rings to attach the material to the springs (which I do not suggest). Instead get some para cord and sew the material in a loop around the edge that will be under the seat. So when the seat is over the springs you can tighten the cord like draw strings and everything stays even and tight. The hog rings don’t hold the material very tight. Especially after sitting on the seat a few times. The sewing of them is actually really easy. I’m thinking about making a YouTube video on how to do it. I just placed my seat springs on the material traced it out added an inch of material around my tracing cut the material and sewed it a 1/4” from the edge of my material. I went out an inch on my material because my material it was going over is burlap, 1” foam, jute, and then the white cotton looking stuff. (Don’t remember what it was called) I also made my own door and kick panels using 1/16” abs plastic and covered them with material.
I will work on making a YouTube video. Cause once you see how easy it really is for just a regular bench seat, more people will start doing it.

Re: cheap seat covers??????????

The seat springs cost me the most. Ordered them from Snyders. All the materials you will need will start around $150.00…….. well maybe less depending on what material you use. If you want your material to look as “sexy” as mine does it will cost. ;)
