There’s no top and no way to attach one.

Looks pieced together…not a big problem to enjoy. Has 31 dash, 29 headlights, 30 grill, maybe standard windshield.. no top irons showing.has valance whether steel or fiberglass?
Looking at belt rail on body, may be fiberglass.

Alex…has hole for saddle stud, can’t see place for mounting stud??

Hood sides installed backwards

Seller says the top and parts are there. I will bet it sells for $25K. Most bidders are not educated enough to know what the issues are.

  • Hood louvers backwards
  • Horn missing
  • 28-29 headlamp buckets, wheels, bumpers
  • '30 radiator shell with some kind of tape wrapped around it
  • Not sure what is going on with the bolts on the frame horns
  • Side-mounted mirrors in the wrong place, no windshield mirror that I can see
  • I think the doors are wrong? The inside handle is in the wrong place

I'd say if you're really interested in purchasing, point out what's wrong with it, say it will cost about $2500. for the correct parts and deduct $3500 from the asking price for labor and parts. The engine number (4.2 million) makes it a late '31. It's your gamble.

Re: 1929 model A model 180 on ebay????????

correct, but there is no asking price. you are bidding on an auction......

who knows where it ends up, but point well taken.

Reminds me of that old Johnny Cash song "One piece at a time" It's a 28,29,30,31...

Realistically, while we may never see the auction results for this online, I feel this vehicle will be selling in the "above $20k+" range. On social media, there have been a couple of 180As that have been listed for 'north of $50k', so while those may be out of reach for some, it makes this one seem like a bargain. Yes, it has some flaws and incorrect things about it however none of those items will matter to the average hobbyist who is not interested in being a MARC/MAFCA member ...and quite frankly could care less about authenticity. Likely, all a buyer would want is something that is sporty that he can cruise to Cars & Coffee in, -or something that will take him, his wife, and possibly some grandkids to dinner and/or to get some ice cream in. Spend $25k on this car, and then another $5k to make some minor repairs, and he is into this car for ½ of what others are being listed for.

The broken English used in he description is a big red flag just like it is in most scams. At the very least, we have a very poorly educated, low IQ seller. Just MHO.

But you look at the quality and the finishes….to me it’s worth 1/2 of the others! Did anyone decide if it’s a fiberglass body??
The top assembly is also critical….said to be there.
I wouldn’t want $30k in it
Imho

Synchro909, you said what I was thinking. Lots of questions and seller is sparse on answers.

Re: 1929 model A model 180 on ebay????????

It is a metal body. I wrote the seller........

I also agree synchro-when someone has trouble speaking proper English, all bets are off.
It sort of shows you who you are dealing with. If not expecting much, all is well.

anything over 20k into it seems like a waste of money to me. But then again, hot rodders use a diff measuring stick. The interior looks terrible. Like some of my work! lol

Re: 1929 model A model 180 on ebay????????

Seller's handle is JessiJone6. He says he is 83. The broken English may be due to his age and that English may be his second language. I think he either bought in from an estate or is trying to help the estate sell it. It does not appear that Jessi knows too much about Model A's. If you decide to bid on it, travel to Jacksonville, Illinois to view it in person or ask Jessi (goes by Jim) to send you a ton of more photos, or get a local Model A guy to appraise it. The auction is over tomorrow night.

The rules for this particular auction require a $500 deposit and then paid in full after 7 days. That time period will give the buyer a chance to do a detailed inspection and he/she can walk away if it is not as advertised.

He has 100% positive feedback from his past auctions. (Total 39)

By the way, I am 78 and have problems with writing text on the forum. I have to edit my text several times after proof reading it. So I am not inclined to judge other's text too harshly.

Re: 1929 model A model 180 on ebay????????

Is it just me, or is the rear drivers side wheel look really weird? It looks like it has a '28/'29 hub cap, but the edge isn't rolled over like early wheels. It looks like the edge is that of a '30/'31.

It has 21" wheels on the ground, but a 19" spare tire wheel in the well. A real Frankenstein of parts and years mixture.
