Pickup cab/bed dust shield A-878

Putting together a ‘29 CCPU for a friend who provided a dust shield (A-878) that I guess mounts on the frame or running board aprons between the cab and bed. Over the years I have owned three “A” pickups and worked on several. I’ve never seen one in place on a truck. Anyone got a photo or can describe proper placement?

Attached is a picture of the one on my early '31 RDPU and I believe it is correct/original for my vehicle. I am not sure about other years or closed cab bodies.

It is my understanding that this panel is used on 30-31 models, not 28-29. There is really not a whole lot of clearance between the cab and the bed on my 28 pickup. Nothing like Charlie's picture above.

My pickup is a late '31 with the narrow bed. It did not have the dust shield when I bought the pickup. I since have obtained the dust shield, had it powder coated ready to put in. I have attempted to install it on several occasions, but gave up -- frustrated! It's just one puzzle that I can't figure out.

I put the shield on my 31 narrow bed and then put the bed on. Warning, with the dust shield on you can’t get to the front bed floor nuts without removing the bed. At least I haven’t been able to.

Here's a picture Marco posted that may help.
