1932 Ford kingpin help

I am using 32 ford spindles on a dropped 32 heavy axle. What takes up the gap between inside of spindle and the axle? Is it just stacked shims? I checked into torrington bearings and they dont come in an ideal size to fit the kingpin diameter. Closest is 7/8” inside diameter which might work but is sloppy. Anyone have a solution. I have done this several times and use a kingpin kit from Richard Lacy/Early Ford V8 Garage which includes the right Torrington bearings and shims.

Re: 1932 Ford kingpin help

On a 32 the thrust bearing sits above the spindle and the front end "hangs" on the kingpin. If you can use stock 32 type pins and bearings you will not need the special parts. If you use 36 type kingpins you will not have to deal with the brake relay cup at the top of the 32 kingpin.

I used the 36 type (actually Pilot) on my 32 and showed it in one of my videos.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

7/8" works

Two NTA-1423 bearings & four TRA-1423 washers
