21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" Anyone know when this was started? They cut the spokes down and rewelded them. Any reason to do it? I have several and was just curious as to why.

Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" My understanding it was to keep the spoke wheel look but be able to run 16s I have a set als0 that I have never used. N0 idea what the value would be?? 0r any market for them

Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" Besides keeping the look, it was done during WWII when it was easier get 16" tires but not 19" or 21" tires. There is a small market with both A's and rodders. I've sold a couple sets.

Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" 1 Attachment(s)
These came installed on my '30 Sport Coupe. Not exactly 100% pleased with them. Came with 215/70 R16 tubeless. No problems after 4000 miles. I do keep and eye on the welds though.

Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" Sharp looking wheel! Must have been a bit of work to do this.

The previous owner mentioned that lot of time went into those wheels. Was also told by the p.o. that my wheels were made by someone in California circa 2010's. That is all I know about them. |
Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" The car in my avitar had them but I went back to 19". they ran true but the welds were not as nice as Fords.

I am considering going back to original 19" wheels as well. |
Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" I am sure there is a market somewhere but may not be worth shipping. Mine are not anywhere as nice as AZBob's.

Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" I managed to get a set of 6 of the modified wheels. Decided to go with 19" Radials & sold the 16's.

Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16" I wouldnt want them, but I guess better then nothing.
