1929 Coupe Windshield Hinge Gasket 2 Attachment(s)
Where exactly does this gasket go ? Brattons says it goes on top of the hinge - does this mean the upper hinge plate that bolts to the header ? In the attached pics, I’m holding the primed upper hinge plate in the installed position. Does the gasket go on top of this plate ?
If so, then is there a gasket on the upper piece of the windshield ? Many thanks - Jim |
Re: 1929 Coupe Windshield Hinge Gasket I think you are referring to the hinge piece that mounts to the sheetmetal header above it. Be careful that the gasket is not too thick. I used contact cement, the smelly stuff) to glue friction tape to the hinge or header metal on my 28 coupe. It worked great and it is quite thin.

Re: 1929 Coupe Windshield Hinge Gasket The rubber gasket sold by the suppliers is not correct for 28/29 Coupes and Tudors. It is too thick and will cause the windshield to sit too low, causing it to rub on the body cross brace below. Do what Rusty did and simply use a line of friction tape as an anti-squeak and sealer.

Glad we have our online forums for questions about an obscure detail like this ! Jim |
