Tow rope or strap attach point?
 

In the process of getting my 31 started. I have a lift with a winch on it but am worrying about where I can attach a pull point or tow point on the car.
The front axle beam is at the same level as the shroud beneath the radiator. I don’t want to hook on there and perhaps damage the shroud. Besides I’ve been told to never attach on to the front axle?? (Why)
The front bumper is the obvious choice. Just wondering if the attach point from the bumper to the frame are strong enough.
The car rolls easy and it’s only a slight incline up the ramps onto the lift.

Yes. Don't pull from the middle of the axle. Attach a short chain to the outside of your spring perches on either side pf the front axle, and pull from the middle of that chain.

I vote for axle straps and make the pull points where the wishbone attaches to the axle. That eliminates bending forces to the axle. Straps are better on your paint than chain.

As a teenager I could push my A up an incline of about 5%, I would put my back against the spare tire on the back of the tudor. This was about 50 ft long and when I needed a break I would kick a block of wood behind the tire. I really wanted to go for a ride !LOL

The trick to pushing or picking something up is to put your back into it, lifting a motorcycle that’s on its side turn around and pick it up with your back against the bike,

Because you are going to make a soft pull just to move the vehicle, the easiest place is to place the hook over the edge of the front spring main leaf by the eye and spring hanger, and then just pull without making unnecessary jerks. Don't over-think this.
