starting problem
 

I have a 1936 Ford Pickup, Flathead V8, It run very good, it been setting inside a build for about 25 year not running, I got running, now I fine that when you run it and temp is up to about 160 deg, You turn off the engine, try to restart, it will not restart, it turn over ok, I replaced the condenser, check the power going to the coil, 2.1 volts, 7.8 ohm's. when it cool down it will start right up, no problem, can it be the coil? Thank You

Check ALL ground wire connections. Many run an additional ground from engine block to frame. Surfaces need to be bare medal and clean on all.
If it is cranking remove a plug wire and see if there is a strong spark at the plug. Replace it and remove a plug wire from the distributor and see if there is a spark there. This can be difficult and dangerous with a front mounted distributor. CAUTION
Now try the same thing with the coil to distributor wire. (Either end)
Sometimes things warm up and connections loosen contact.
It is always 1.Spark, 2. fuel, or Battery power. Keep chasing. I am leaning towards a bad connection before I start swapping parts with the "maybe" approach.

2.1 volts at the coil is not enough should be @ 6 volts give or take ck. voltage when cold see what you get

If it's the original coil, Id bet it's the pbm. I had the same thing happen on my 36 some years back...the coils dry up as years go by. Skip, from Florida, rewires these coils and is well known on this forum. Can't remember his phone # or address offhand but others will fill you in,I'm sure. terry

I sent Skip my swap meet coil and had Charlie NY rebuild my distributor and carb.
My car didn’t have any starting issues just running problems, now fixed.
