Emergency Brake Rod query

Having sorted my emergency brake ratchet and pawl issue of last week, it seems I cannot take a trick at the moment! In making the adjustment to the emergency brake rod, so that the emergency brake rod is fully engaged at 3 clicks on the ratchet, the right hand side was no problem. Left hand side - a different story.

I can pull the rod towards the front of the car about an inch before there is resistance. Pull some more and I can move the rod forward a further inch - and in that position it locks into place. I can push it backwards easily enough to original position. Plus there is not retardation of the rear wheel. Both rear wheel hubs were replaced about 6 months ago with new and the emergency brakes relined. Before I jack the car up and get underneath it, any quick ideas on a probable cause? Have I re-assembled the connecting levers / toggles incorrectly? Or is the Emergency Brake Lever slipping on the EB Toggle Lever?

As always, many thanks.

Or is the Emergency Brake Lever slipping on the EB Toggle Lever? JohninKuranda

There is a small shaft key on the emergency brake shaft that goes through the backing plate. The toggle lever goes over that. Is it missing? If so, that could account for the slippage.
