40 Ford aftermarket headlight door info
 

I found several of these old headlight doors with an extra lense at the bottom. Does anyone know the history on them?

I'm thinking they are aftermarket bulb to sealed beam conversion bezels....

They are most-likely ELECTROLINE brand aftermarket, sealed beam adapters for '37-'39 Fords. Most folks don't have nice things to say about them as they do look kind of cheezy on an old Ford.

Best use for them that I have ever seen is to stick a clock of appropriate size in 'em.

Not claiming much knowledge on anything '40, I don't think that they look any cheesier than that aftermarket valve cover.....Can't swap that back with a phillips screwdriver either.

I had them on my 38 std, and I like the look, and I like sealed beam headlights. If you drive at night alot like I do , sealed beams are a wonderful thing even staying with 6v's

If anyone is looking for a set let me know. I found 4 of them at a little antique mall close to my parents cabin. I have a nice set of chrome headlight doors on my ‘40 and don’t have a use for these.
