Can a French oil pump help a worn out flatty?

The old 59A in the 32 was still suffering with low oil pressure at idle. I checked the cam and bearings and there was no opportunity for improvement there. I measured the bearings and concluded that the problem was excessive clearances. While looking at oil pumps I realised that one oil pump I had would provide increased volume. Could this be the answer? Who knows? It's worth a try!

I doubt it would help the oil pressure but, it might pump more oil through the system.

Oil pressure went from 0 psi at idle with the 59A pump to 15 psi at idle with the French pump. A high volume pump like the French one did help the oil pressure in this worn old flatty.

I wasn't asking the question, I was posting a link to a video.

Mart, your results were indeed Quite Impressive! I have spent many, many hours in the last 30 years obsessing about oil pressure in the used, reconditioned and overhauled flatheads I have owned over the years (*just ask my wives). In the early years I had two professional engine rebuilds done. The first cost 2500.00 and never developed decent pressure and the company was in bankrupcy so no recourse. Second was 5 grand and was excellent. So my 'store bought' motors were 50/50. For the last 25 years I have been doing what you do with known good parts and careful measuring and I have improved my averages by leaps and bounds! Many will say they have 2 lbs at hot idle etc and she runs great, so don't worry about it. Not me, that would never do. Thanks for that video Mart and thanks for keeping it real.

Mart: THANK YOU for disproving my thinking. Glad there was improvement.

The basics of hydraulics, is that a pump only produces flow. It is the resistance to flow that creates pressure. Ergo, increased flow will generate more pressure. Good job Mart, and thank you for sharing.
