St Paul Factory

Just returned from trick or treating with grandchildren in the Highland Park neighborhood. While there and observing much new development, our son in-law explained this is where the Ford Factory once was.

Re: St Paul Factory

Ford had an older branch plant in Minneapolis. It was the tallest one since Ford used elevators in some of the older branch plants in the model T days. The Twin Cities plant was a lot more modern. I think it was one of the longest operating plants that Ford had. It was demolished after the last truck rolled out in 2011. I've heard that there are still tunnels where Ford mined the sandstone for the glass plant there.

It's too bad these plants don't still have the dies to stamp out Model A sheet metal, and could find a way to put them back on line and make it profitable. It would be great to be able to buy a new Ford-made right front welled fender for my 30 pickup. Figuring just inflation, that new fender would only be about $200.

The Brits have it figured out. https://www.bmh-ltd.com/
